09.30-10.30 Berry nursery Loos

In 2011, Dutch grower Loos, together with two dairy farms and another farming company, started the energy firm. They generate heat and energy from manure and agricultural waste streams. Through the use of assimilation lighting Loos grows tasty, sweet and more durable strawberries all around the year. Varieties grown are Elsanta, Sonata, Triumph andArabella.

11.10-12.30 Research Centre Hoogstraten – specialists at horticultural research, development and consultancy

Since its foundation in 1955, Research Centre Hoogstraten plays an active role in the development and growth of the horticulture in the region. The Research Centre is specialized in the cultivation in glasshouses (strawberry, tomato, pepper) and the strawberry cultivation in open air (in soil and on tabletops). There is a dedicated Consultancy Team Strawberry which delivers professional advice inland and abroad. The team combines years of experience with youthfull dynamism and delivers necessary input in the setup of trials in the research program.

Jumbo Foodmarkt Breda – innovative concept that turns shopping into an ‘experience’

6,000 sqm Jumbo Food Market is the largest food supermarket in the Netherlands. The range includesseasonal and local produce from local entrepreneurs. In addition to this, chefs prepare delicious food on the spot using fresh products.

Note that: Rijswijk train station is close by for those who would like to catch a train to Amsterdam airport. It is 45 min journey to Schiphol.
